Safety On our Streets Interest Group or SOSIG

Safety on Our Streets is an interest group primarily concerned with making the United States safer. We believe that the key to a safe America is to keep dangerous criminals locked up for life. Our group strongly supports the death penalty as the best way to prevent criminals from repeating their crimes and to save U.S. taxpayers money. However, we are opposed to limitations on the legal ownership of firearms. Our group claims that the Second Amendment protects Americans’ rights to own firearms for their own protection. Our organization has done studies showing that the greatest deterrent for violent crime is criminals’ fear that the victims they target may possess firearms. Rather than disarming responsible citizens who own legally registered firearms, the government should instead spend more time and money recovering illegal firearms from criminals.
